Advanced Permaculture Design Charette Course Description - At this workshop we will do an assessment of the 140 acre Billings ranch on the outskirts of Ashland, brainstorm a permaculture vision of its possibilities and do a rough sketch to document our ideas. This class is intended for PDC graduates wishing to extend site assessment and design skills. Others may be approved by special request. Students will have a chance to experience in depth the way that Tom Ward assesses a property when he is called in as a consultant. The Billings Ranch has a wide variety of ecosystems, uses and flows including a creek, pond, river, animals, gardens, fields, and more for our consideration. We will do group brainstorming and learn how Tom approaches the design issues and priorities, and what kind of recommendations can be made from an initial assessment. |
